(Below) Basildon branch raised the funds to purchase the present Burnham-on-Crouch ILB—-and has already set as its target for the future a replacement boat. Last autumn Connor O'Brien, chairman of Basildon District Council, came to Burnham to unveil a commemorative plaque, accompanied by Councillor Tony Ball (centre), secretary, and Ray Hoskins, treasurer of Basildon branch.

They were welcomed by Commander I. McL. Methven, chairman of Burnham ILB station (extreme left). Sidney Hull, Mayor of Burnham, was present on that occasion.
