(Below) Weymouth lifeboat, the 52' Barnett Frank Spiller Locke, leaving harbour at 1507 on Thursday, June 12, to help four canoeists reported in difficulty off Bowleaze Cove. The wind was gale force north-north-easterly, the sea rough with a flooding tide. The lifeboat sighted and picked up three people and four canoes. The fourth canoeist was rescued by helicopter and winched down to the lifeboat.
