The R.N.L.I. is looking for talent for a lifeboatmen's shanty competition. The idea is for one song, essentially about the sea, to be composed and sung by a group of five life-boatmen serving or retired. Groups of life-boatmen wishing to compete are asked to compose a shanty, record it on tape, and send it to head office. These would then be judged and possibly the winning shanty would be performed during the 150th anniversary of the R.N.L.I. in 1974..
