In 1942, for example, he searched a sinking Lancaster bomber for trapped airmen and received the thanks of the R.N.L.I. inscribed on vellum. Mrs. Neilsen, his widow, is shown (left) at the unveiling watched by Mrs. M. Kitson, chairman of Wells U.D.C..
