Mr. S. Macdonald, F.R.I.N.A., M.I.E.S.S., S.N.A.M.E., has been appointed Chief Staff Officer (Technical) of the R.N.L.I. Mr. Macdonald is married and is aged 50.

He was educated at Greenock and Edinburgh Academies and Glasgow University where he graduated as a B.Sc. with first-class honours in Naval Architecture. He has considerable design, technical, and constructional experience of a wide variety of vessels of all sizes. His previous appointment was with Upper Clyde Shipbuilders as a Research and Development Engineer.Mr. V. Frank has been appointed Appeals Secretary of the R.N.L.I. Mr. Frank, who is aged 46, is married and lives in Chislehurst. He has wide and varied experience in the commercial world at managerial level, both in market development and advertising..
