Appointed coxswain in April, 1966, he had previously been second coxswain from April, 1961, to March, 1966. In 1965 the old Cloughey station was closed for a new station known as Cloughey-Portavogie. Coxswain Donnan, when this picture was taken, was wearing the old type of life-jacket which has now been replaced with the modern life-jacket and protective suit..
