At 3.55 p.m. on 23rd May, 1970, it was learnt that a youth had fallen over the cliff three to four miles westof the Anvil Point lighthouse. The life-boat R.L.P. was launched at 4.10. It was shortly before low water.

She reached the scene of the accident at 4.25, and the injured boy was seen on a ledge about 20 feet from the water. Two members of the lifeboat crew landed on the rocks and gave first aid. After treatment the youth was put on the Neil Robertson stretcher and carried over the rocks.

He was ferried to the life-boat by the inflatable dinghy which is carried on board. His two companions were also transferred to the life-boat. The life-boat returned to the slipway at 5 o'clock. A doctor and an ambulance were in attendance..
