An Ex-Admiralty Drifter

Donaghadee, Co. Down - At 2.4 p.m.

on 28th March, 1970, a report was received from the coastguard that a red flare had been sighted four miles north of Orlock point. The life-boat Sir Samuel Kelly slipped her moorings at 2.12. There was a north westerly gale with a rough sea. The tide was flooding. The life-boat came up with an ex-Admiralty drifter with a crew of three and took her in tow to Donaghadee. She returned to her station at 4.30..
