This picture of a life-boatman and the R.N.LI, flag, against a sea background, is a collage made up of 17 different kinds of English postage stamps, and is the work of Capt. Colin Lowry, former honorary secretary and now chairman of the Appledore branch of the R.N.L.I. In mid May, 1970, Captain Lowry reported that he had sold about 600 tickets to people trying to guess the number of stamps used.
