Great Yarmouth and Gorleston, Norfolk - At 1.10 a.m. on 7th November, 1969, the coastguard informed the honorary secretary that a red flare had been sighted a quarter of a mile east of the north pier. At 1.18 thelife-boat Khami slipped her moorings in a strong south easterly wind with a rough sea. It was low water. She came up with a dinghy, with one man on board, at 1.40. The man was taken on board the life-boat, and the dinghy taken in tow to Great Yarmouth.

The life-boat returned to her station at 2.25. A donation was made to the Institution's funds..
