Etna II

Humber, Yorkshire - At 6 p.m. on 5th August, 1969, the coastguard reported that a motor boat was on fire between the Bull lightvessel and Spurn point. The life-boat City of Bradford HI was launched at 6.12.

The tide was flooding. The life-boat came up with the burning motor boat Etna II one mile east of Spurn point, and found the owner in the sea nearby. He was taken aboard the life-boat and given first aid treatment for serious burns. He was then landed at Grimsby where an ambulance was waiting to take him to hospital. The life-boat returned to her station at 10.30..
