A Plastic Bath

At 1.28 p.m. on 14th August, 1969, the police informed the honorarysecretary that some young children were reported to be adrift in a small boat off Gailes shore. The life-boat Connel Elizabeth Cargill slipped her moorings at 1.35. It was shortly before high water. At 2.35 she found not a boat but a plastic bath with two boys, aged 11 and 13, lying in it wet and nearing total exhaustion.

They were taken aboard the lifeboat and landed at Troon where they were placed in care of the police and later returned to their parents.

The (ife-boat returned to her station at 3 o'clock..
