on 21st July, 1969, the life-boat coxswain noticed that a dinghy with three people on board was in difficulties in Port Erin bay. The life-boat Matthew Simpson was launched at 5.50 in a fresh south westerly wind with a rough sea. It was shortly after high water. The life-boat came up with the dinghy at 6 o'clock.
