Mr. Charles Ernest Link, who in 1963 received the highest award the R.N.L.I.

can make to an honorary worker, appointment as Honorary Life Governor, died on 29th July, 1969. For many years he worked tirelessly for the R.N.L.I. in the City of London, being chairman of that branch for 19 years. For 35 years he issued an annual personal appeal to the wholesale meat and provision trades, the response to which in all amounted to nearly £35,000.

He was chairman of J. D. Link & Gillham, wholesale provision merchants, of Smithfield, and active in the public life of the city. He represented the Ward of Farringdon Without on the Court of Common Council for 22 years and became Chief Commoner..
