Wick, Caithness - At 10 a.m. on 15th May, 1969, the coastguard informed the honorary secretary that the fishing boat Alphia was in difficulties just offshore at the south head of Wick bay. The life-boat Sir Godfrey Baring was launched at 10.10. It was two hours before high water.

The life-boat came up with the fishing boat, with two men on board, whose engine had failed. The life-boat took her in tow to Wick harbour, and returned to her station at 11 o'clock..
