Buckie, Banffshire - At 3.35 p.m. on 14th December, 1968, the coastguard told the coxswain that a yacht was in difficulties four to five miles north east of Buckie. The life-boat Laura Moncur slipped her moorings at 3.45 in a south south easterly gale with a moderate sea. The tide was flooding. The life-boat came up with the yacht Thistle which had engine trouble. There were two men and three children on board.
