Flamborough, Yorkshire - At 3.58p.m. on 1st September, 1968, it was learnt that a boy had fallen over the cliff at Thornwick bay and that the assistance of the life-boat had been requested by the police. Twelve minutes later the life-boat Friendly Forester was launched in a strong south easterly breeze with a choppy sea. The tide was ebbing. On reaching the position the coxswain anchored and veered the life-boat in astern. With the assistance of skin divers the boy was taken aboard the life-boat. She then returned to harbour where an ambulance was waiting to take the boy to hospital. The life-boat returned to her station at 4.40..
