Hayman Lady

Ramsgate, Kent - At 9.15 p.m. on 29th July, 1968, the coastguard informed the honorary secretary that a yacht was aground on the harbourbar. The life-boat Cecil and Lilian Philpott, on temporary duty at the station, slipped her moorings at 9.50 in a fresh north easterly wind and a moderate sea. It was low water.

The life-boat came up with the yacht Hayman Lady, with six people on board, aground on a flint bank. The life-boat's boarding boat was used to place two men with a tow rope aboard the yacht. At 10.6 the yacht was towed clear and moored in Ramsgate harbour. The life-boat returned to her station at 10.45 p.m..
