Torbay, Devon - At 2.42 p.m. on 13th April, 1968, news was received that a small boat appeared to be in difficulties off Beesands. The lifeboat Princess Alexandra of Kent slipped her moorings at 2.50 in a strong easterly breeze and a rough sea. The life-boat came up with the cabin cruiser Victoria with a crew of two and ten skin-divers on board.

She was wallowing badly and those aboard were bailing out. Owing to the difficult conditions the coxswain decided to tow her to Dartmouth which was reached at 6.15. The lifeboat returned to her station at 7.20..
