Plymouth, Devon-At 9.24 p.m. on 18th May, 1968, the coastguard told the honorary secretary that a man was trapped on rocks at the foot of the cliffs at Bovisand fort. The lifeboat Thomas Forehead and Mary Rowse with the boarding boat in tow slipped her moorings at 9.35. It was two and a half hours before highwater. She arrived off Cable beach at 9.50, and the boarding boat with two members of the life-boat crew aboard was sent to pick up the man at the foot of the cliffs. He was taken aboard the life-boat and landed at Millbay docks. The life-boat returned to her station at 10.15..
