Sabine, of Onway

Beaumaris, Anglesey - At 8.50 a.m.

on 1st November, 1967, the coastguard informed the honorary secretary that a yacht appeared to be in difficulties in Conway Bay. The lifeboat Field Marshal and Mrs Smuts was launched at 9.25 in a south easterly gale and a rough sea. It was shortly before high water. The crewof two of the yacht Sabine of Onway fired flares to indicate her position.

Her engine had broken down and she was drifting. The life-boat took the yacht in tow to Beaumaris and returned to her station at 11,15..
