The BelgianYacht Nan Shan

At 5.30 p.m. on nth August, 1967, the coastguard informed the honorary secretary that the Belgian yacht Nan Shan had been taken in tow by the coaster Windsor Queen. The yacht's crew of three were on board the coaster and she requested the help of the life-boat as she was on passage to Germany. The lifeboat Faithful Forester slipped her moorings at 5.40 in a strong south westerly breeze and a rough sea. The tide was flooding. The life-boat came up with the coaster near the South Falls buoy and embarked the yacht's crew. With the yacht in tow the life-boat proceeded towards Dover. During the course of the passage the yacht capsized and the tow rope had to be cut. The yacht then sank. The life-boat landed the yacht's crew and returned to her station at midnight..
