Tania of Rochester

Wicklow - At 8.25 a.m. on 29th July, 1967, it was learnt that a yacht was in distress 15 miles southeast of Wicklow. A rope had fouled her propeller. The life-boat J. W. Archer was launched at 8.40 in a strong south easterly wind and a rough sea. The tide was ebbing. The life-boat found the motor yacht Tania of Rochester being towed by a trawler and escorted them to Wicklow. During the passage the yacht's small boat parted and the life-boat recovered it and handed it over to the owner of the yacht. He made a donation to the Institution's funds and a gift to the life-boat crew..
