Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin - At 6.8 p.m. on 2ist July, 1967, the coxswain was informed that a fishing vessel was in danger of going on to the rocks at Poolbeg.

The life-boat John F. Kennedy slipped her moorings at 6.20 in a gentle southerly breeze and smooth sea. The tide was flooding. The life-boat found the motor fishing vessel San Marino with two people on board off Poolbeg lighthouse, her engine having failed. A line was passed and the vessel was towed to Dun Laoghaire.
