Galway Bay - At 9.30 p.m. on ist June, 1967, the local doctor asked the honorary secretary if the life-boat would take a 12 year old boy, who had been seriously injured in a fall from his bicycle to hospital on the mainland. The life-boat Mabel Marion Thompson left her station at 10 o'clock in a moderate north westerly wind and a smooth sea. The tide was flooding.

The boy was landed at Rossaveel and the life-boat returned to her station at 1.45 a.m. on 2nd June..
