La Baie Norree

At 3.40 p.m. on I5th June, 1967, news was received that a red flare had been fired from a yacht east north east of Dover harbour. The life-boat Southern Africa slipped her moorings at 3.59 in a gale force wind and a rough sea. It was two hours after high water. When the life-boat reached the casualty, the yacht La Baie Norree, with three people on board, it was found she had lost her mainsail in a sudden squall and had run out of fuel. The life-boat took her in tow to Dover harbour and returned to her moorings at 6.20..
