Jorjika

At 6.37 p.m. on 26th July, 1967, it was learnt that a yacht was in difficulties off Holland-on-Sea beach. The life-boat Sir Godfrey Baring was launched at 7 o'clock in a gentle south westerly breeze and a choppy sea. The IRB was also launched.

The tide was flooding. The life-boat found the yacht Jorjika had drifted on to the beach with damaged steering and was holed on the starboard side. The owner was advised the best way to refloat her, and the life-boat and IRB returned to their station pending the flood tide. At 12.30 a.m. the life-boat and IRB returned to the casualty and stood by while the yacht refloated. In view of the damage to the Jorjika the life-boat escorted her to Brightlingsea..
