J.G.4.

At 3.52 p.m. on I3th July, 1967, a message was received indicating that the motor yacht J.G.4. had broken down about half a mile off Frinton and was taking in water fast. The life-boat Cecil and Lilian Philpott, on temporary duty at the station, slipped her moorings at 4.12 in a moderate north easterly breeze and a choppy sea. It was shortly before high water. On reaching the casualty two members of her crew of three were taken aboard the life-boat, and replaced by two members of the life-boat crew who assisted the owner in bailing the yacht. A line was made fast and the casualty was taken in tow to Walton and handed over to a local boat for berthing. The life-boat returned to her moorings at 7 o'clock..
