Black Jake

Girvan, Ayrshire - At 10.45 P-m- on 5th July, 1967, a message was received that a small motor boat was in difficulties one mile west of the harbour. The lifeboat St. Andrew (Civil Service No. 10)slipped her moorings at n o'clock in a gentle southerly breeze and a moderate sea. The tide was flooding. The life-boat found the motor boat Black Jake of Girvan with seven men on board. Her engine had failed. The life-boat took her in tow to Girvan harbour and returned to her moorings at 11.35..
