Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin - At 4.0 p.m. on I2th August, 1967, preparations were almost complete for the new life-boat's naming ceremony when severalcalls were received of a boat in distress in Scotsmans bay. At 4.20 p.m. the lifeboat John F. Kennedy proceeded in a strong north westerly breeze and a choppy sea. The tide was flooding. The life-boat found a dismasted yacht in the tow of a launch and escorted both boats to the harbour. The life-boat returned to her station at 4.40..
