At 9.25 p.m. on 5th June, 1967, it was learned that a sailing dinghy was in difficulties off the R7 buoy. The life-boat Norman B. Corlett slipped her moorings at 9.40 in a moderate south westerly breeze and a choppy sea. The tide was flooding.
