A Dinghy (17)

Cromarty, Ross and Cromarty - At 10.52 a.m. on 8th August, 1967, the coastguard informed the honorary secretary that a dinghy and a boy were missing from Portmahamack. The lifeboat Lilla Marras, Douglas and Will slipped her moorings at 11.24 m a slight east south easterly breeze and a slight sea. The tide was flooding. The lifeboat searched the area and at noon the crew were informed that the dinghy had been seen empty four and a half miles from Tarbetness. The life-boat took the dinghy in tow and returned to her station at 6.28 p.m. It transpired thatthe report of the missing boy and the dinghy were unconnected..
