Service to Humanity

The Evening Herald, Dublin, paid this tribute to the work of the R.N.L.I.

in their edition of 25th January, 1967. 'There are very few voluntary institutions left with a tradition of service to humanity to match that of the Royal National Life-boat Institution. The crews at stations all over Ireland are ready at any minute of the day and night not only to rescue lives at sea but to risk their own in doing so. Very many of them throughout the years have given their lives that others might live. They will go on doing so.

'We can never repay the men, but at least we should be able to meet the cost of the service.'.
