A Fishing Coble

Whitby, Yorkshire - At 9.45 a.m. on 5th April, 1967, concern was felt for a small fishing coble off Kettleness in the rapidly deteriorating weather conditions.

There was a gale from the west north west with a rough sea. It was two and a half hours after low water. The life-boat Mary Ann Hepworth launched at 10 o'clock and stood by while the coble crossed the bar and entered the harbour.

After the coble was safely berthed the lifeboat returned to her station, arriving at 10.55..
