The present life-boat house (left) at Ilfracombe nestles at the foot of Lantern Hill where there is a fishermen's chapel dedicated to St. Nicholas. The new life-boat L/oyd'j II (right) is launched by tractor over the site of the original life-boat house which was built in 1866 - the year that the Institution took over the life-boat.
