Pilot Me II, of Fraserburgh

Stornoway, Outer Hebrides - At 5.30 a.m. on 2ist February, 1967, the motor fishing vessel Pilot Me II of Fraserburgh was reported to be drifting ashore in the vicinity of Tiumpan Head lighthouse about 14 miles north east of Stornoway. The life-boat The Rankin, on temporary duty at the station, left her moorings at 6 o'clock. There was a storm force westerly wind and a very rough sea.

It was one and a half hours after high water. She arrived at the casualty at 7.30 and it was found that she had been taken in tow by the motor fishing vessel Strachens of Fraserburgh. The life-boat accompanied the vessels to Stornoway, arriving at 3.30..
