Clovelly, North Devon - At 6.48 p.m.

on 14th January, 1967, information was received, that a boy was stranded on a rock about 500 yards from the shore at Northcott Mouth, one mile north of Bude. The life-boat William Cantrell Ashley was launched at 7.5 with a small rowing boat on board. There was a light westerly wind and a slight sea. It was one hour before high water. She arrived at the indicated position at 9.26. The coxswain and a member of the life-boat crew rowed to the rock in the small boat and took the boy off.
