Longhope, Orkney - At 1.45 p.m.

on ist November, 1966 the honorary secretary received from the local doctor an urgent request for the services of the life-boat to convey a very seriously ill patient to Balfour hospital, Kirkwall.

The patient was embarked and at 2.2 the life-boat T.G.B. was launched in a north easterly gale and a rough sea. It was two hours before low water. At 3.7 the patient was transferred from the life-boat to an ambulance at St. Margaret's Hope. The life-boat arrived back at her station at 4-37-.
