Galway Bay - At 5.40 p.m. on 2nd November, 1966, the local doctor requested the services of the life-boat to attend a woman on Inishere Island who was seriously ill. At 6.30 the life-boat Mabel Marion Thompson with the doctor on board, left her moorings and proceeded to Inishere Island. It was thirty minutes before high water.
