Walton and Frinton, Essex - At 1.10 p.m. on 9th November, 1966, distress signals were reported on Sunk Head tower. At 1.45 the maroons were fired, and at 2.3 the life-boat Edian Courtauld was launched in a fresh northerly breeze and a choppy sea. It was one hour before low water.
