Hastings, Sussex - At 6.6 p.m. on 18th September, 1966, a vessel was noticed burning red flares three to four miles south west of the life-boat station. The life-boat Fairlight was launched at 6.34 and proceeded to a position south of the bathing pool to investigate. It was four hours after high water. She found the small motor bost Kiando with three people on board. The life-boat took the boat in tow and returned to her station, arriving at 7.16..
