Evening Star

Arbroath, Angus - At 10.45 a.m. on r 8th October, 1966, concern was felt for the motor fishing vessel Evening Star which was still at sea. The weather conditions were deteriorating rapidly. At 2.10 p.m. it was decided to launch the life-boat The Duke of Montrose in a strong south easterly wind and a very rough sea.

When the Evening Star was sighted, the life-boat met her and escorted the fishing vessel across the harbour bar.

As the weather was not suitable for rehousing, the life-boat was moored in the harbour from 4.5 until 3.45 p.m. the following day when she was rehoused..
