on 3ist October, 1966, news was received that one of the local angling club's rowing boats was missing. She had last been seen drifting west, off Beachy Head, with two men on board. The life-boat Beryl Tollemache was launched at 4.5. It was two hours and a half before low water.

She found the boat at 4.25 and took her in tow to her station, arriving at 4.45..
