Newhaven, Sussex - At 6.25 p.m. on I3th August, 1966, a small boat was reported in difficulties just outside the breakwater. The life-boat Kathleen Mary was launched at 6.50 in a rough sea and south westerly gale. It was three hours after low water, there were rain squalls, and the weather was deteriorating. The life-boat reached the yacht Northern Star whose engine had broken down. The lifeboat's bowman was put aboard and she was towed into Newhaven. The life-boat returned to her station at 8.5..
