on I3th June, 1966, the doctor in Eday reported that he had a patient requiring hospital treatment. The life-boat The John Gellatly Hyndman left her moorings at 7.30 in a moderate easterly wind and a slight sea. It was high water. She arrived at Eday at 8.5 where the patient - a 10 year old boy - was embarked, together with his mother. The life-boat sailed immediately for Kirkwall where they were landed at 11.20.
