Yarmouth, Isle of Wight - At 2.1 p.m. on i3th August, 1966, information was received that a man had fallen overboard from a yacht in the Needles channel. At 2.10 the life-boat The Earl and Countess Howe was launched. The tide was flooding. There was a rough sea with a south westerly gale. The life-boat made an extensive search with a helicopter, pilot cutter and a private yacht, but no trace of the missing man could be found. The life-boat returned to her station at 4.45..
