Luella

Barrow, Lancashire - At midnight on 3rd August, 1966, a red flare was reported about two miles offshore. At 12.45 a distress signal was observed from the fishing boat Luella. At 1.5 the lifeboat Cunard, on temporary duty at the station, was launched in a moderate sea and an east south easterly wind. It was thirty minutes before high water. With the help of the m.v. Duke of Lancaster the life-boat found the fishing boat with her crew of two at 2.20, and towed her to Fleetwood. The life-boat returned to her station at 8.35..
