Cheshire Cat

At 8.04 p.m. on 5th June, 1966, it was reported that the cabin cruiser Cheshire Cat was drifting a quarter of a mile south west of the North Goodwin lightvessel.

The life-boat Michael and Lily Davis left her moorings at 8.15 in a moderate to fresh south westerly wind and a moderate sea. It was one hour before low water. She reached the casualty, which had seven people on board, at 9.9 and a tow-line was secured. The life-boat towed the Cheshire Cat, which had run out of fuel, to Ramsgate, and returned to her station at 10.30.
