An R.A.F. Launch
Boulmer, Northumberland - At 5.30 p.m. on 28th August, 1966, a small boat was reported in difficulties near the reef. At 5.39 the life-boat Robert and Dorothy Hardcastle was launched in a light easterly breeze and a moderate sea.
It was two and a half hours after high water. The life-boat found an R.A.F.
launch, whose engines had failed, and towed her back to Boulmer, arriving at 6.15. A donation was made to the Institution's funds..
