At 9.52 p.m. on 6th August, 1966, a yacht with two people aboard was reported in difficulties off Fort Albert. At 10.6 the life-boat The Earl and Countess Howe was launched. The tide was flooding.

There was a westerly wind and a moderate sea. The life-boat found the yacht, which had lost her rudder, alongside the sea wall near Fort Albert. A line was fired and she was taken in tow back to Yarmouth. The life-boat returned to her station at 11.20..
